Raising the modern Fae

To all those with fae children you are not alone.

Hi, I’m Tina, I’m the mother of a 5 and half year autistic girl. She is non-verbal and is only not completely feral due to the efforts of her fantastic special school. They are at present trying to encourage her to socially acceptable activities such as eating and wearing clothes. I wish them luck, her favourite hobbies are jumping off the highest object in the room having climbed up it in the first place and Paw Patrol.

Well now she’s 7 she’s partially verbal but will sign if she’s tired or feeling lazy. She is most put out that at present I still know more signs than her. Her eating routines are laughable but if you look at it over a year spread she sort of has a balanced diet. She just eats the same thing for months at a time then moves on. Still makes the shopping easy.

About Me

For 12 years I taught. I thought this prepared me for parenthood. That’s a funny thought is it? Nothing can prepare you for parenthood especially not a child that can’t sleep unless you are walking, that is allergic to milk and soya (seriously how is a mammal infant allergic to milk?!). Still baby liposuction was good diet I lost 4 st in 3 months. And then put it all back on the moment I wasn’t life support for a fickle baby. Now I risk assess the size of grape pieces, the probability of crayons containing toxins if eaten (they don’t but you do poop rainbows) and can I really face another 6 hours of Numberblocks (hyper-fixation can be a cruel master)…

Don’t be shy, please like, share and leave me comments it’s good to know we’re not alone
